Privacy Policy

How CADialogue collects, uses and protects personal information, and the choices you have. This policy describes what this website actually does today — it does not describe systems we do not run.

1. Who we are

CADialogue (cadialogue.in) publishes finance news and analysis for an Indian audience — markets, the economy, banking, tax, GST, mutual funds and personal finance.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers the cadialogue.in website. It does not cover other websites we link to. When you follow a link to the Reserve Bank of India, SEBI, an exchange, a company filing or any other third-party site, that site’s own privacy policy applies to you there, not ours.

3. Information you give us

You can read every article on CADialogue without telling us anything about yourself. We ask for personal information only at the points where you choose to interact with us.

Contact form

Our contact page carries a form that asks for your name, email address, telephone number and your message. We use those details to read your message, reply to it, and keep a record of the exchange. Submissions are stored within our own WordPress installation and delivered to our editorial inbox.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our email brief we store your email address, the page you subscribed from and the date and time of the subscription. We use them only to send you that brief and to answer you if you write to us about it. We do not operate a double opt-in confirmation step, so your address is added when you submit the form. You can ask us to remove it at any time and we will.

Reader accounts

Our site software supports reader registration at /login/ and /register/. If you create an account we store the username and email address you supply and a cryptographic hash of your password — never the password itself. An account is not required to read anything on this site.

4. Information collected automatically

Server logs

Like every website, our hosting produces server logs. These record your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the referring page where one is sent, and your browser and device user-agent string. We use them to keep the site running, to investigate errors, and to detect and stop abuse — for example the automated registration attempts and content-injection attempts this site has actually received. They are retained by our hosting provider for its standard log period.

Article view counting

We count how many times each article is read so that the “Top reads” lists reflect real readership. The count is a single number stored against the article. To stop one visitor inflating the same article’s count, your browser is given a small first-party cookie named cad_seen that holds the article IDs you have already been counted for in the past hour. It contains no identifier for you, is not readable by JavaScript, and expires after one hour. This is the whole of our first-party measurement — there is no profiling behind it.

Analytics

CADialogue does not currently run Google Analytics, or any other third-party analytics or tag-management product, on this website. If that changes, this section will be updated before the tool is switched on, and any such tool will be governed by the consent controls described in section 7.

Local storage

The market figures on our homepage are cached in your browser’s local storage for up to fifteen minutes, so that moving between pages does not re-request them. Those entries hold price data only. They are not sent to us and contain nothing about you. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.

5. Third parties that receive data because of how the site is built

We try to keep this list short, and we would rather name everything on it than describe it vaguely.

• Hostinger — our web host. All site data, including anything you submit through a form, is stored on their infrastructure.
• Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — our typefaces load from Google’s servers, so Google receives your IP address and browser details as part of that request.
• Google Maps — our contact page embeds a map of our office. That embed is loaded from Google and may set its own cookies and receive your IP address. It appears on that one page only.
• Market data providers — the live figures on our homepage are fetched by your browser directly from CoinGecko, the jsDelivr currency API and Frankfurter (ECB data), which therefore see your IP address. Stock-index, metals and crude figures are fetched by our server from Yahoo Finance, so your browser never contacts Yahoo and your IP address is not disclosed to them.
• Mutual fund data — our fund tool at /mutual-fund-nav-today/ fetches scheme data directly from mfapi.in, which will see your IP address when you use that page.
• Pexels — some stock photography is served from Pexels’ image CDN, which receives your IP address as part of loading the picture.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes.

6. Advertising

CADialogue does not currently display third-party advertising on this website. No ad tags, no ad cookies, and no advertising identifiers are present as this policy is published.

We are preparing to work with Google Ad Manager. When advertising does go live, this section will describe it accurately, and the following will apply:

• Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers, IP addresses, web beacons, pixels and similar technologies to serve advertisements, to limit how often you see a particular advertisement, and to measure whether an advertisement worked.
• Where we or our partners rely on your consent, no advertising cookie or advertising identifier will be set before you have given it, and you will be able to refuse or withdraw it as easily as you gave it — see section 7.
• Personalised advertising will only operate where you have consented to it and where it is lawful in your location. Without that consent, only non-personalised advertising may be served, which still requires limited technical storage in order to deliver and measure the advertisement but does not build a profile of you.
• You can review and change Google’s own advertising settings at any time at adssettings.google.com, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

7. Cookies and your choices

Our Cookie Policy lists the categories of cookie and similar technology this site can use, and says plainly which of them are actually in use today.

You can always control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking them or deleting the ones already stored. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site — such as signing in — from working.

Once a certified consent management platform is live on this site, a permanent “Privacy & Cookie Settings” link in our footer will reopen your choices so you can change or withdraw consent at any time. That link is already in the footer; until the consent platform is switched on it takes you to the Cookie Policy, which explains the current position.

8. How long we keep things

• Contact form submissions — kept while the query is open and for a reasonable period afterwards as a record of the correspondence.
• Newsletter subscriptions — kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete the address.
• Reader accounts — kept until you ask us to close the account.
• Server logs — kept for our host’s standard retention period and used only for security and diagnostics.
• Article view counts — an aggregate number per article, kept indefinitely; it is not linked to any individual.

9. Security

The site is served entirely over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as hashes. Administrative areas are restricted, and we monitor for and block automated abuse of our registration and contact forms.

No website can promise that transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will act on it and notify you where we are required to.

10. Your rights

You can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information about you we hold;
• correct it if it is wrong;
• delete it, including unsubscribing you from the newsletter or closing your account;
• stop using it for a particular purpose;
• withdraw a consent you previously gave.

Write to [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL REQUIRED], or use our contact form marking your message “Privacy”. We will respond within a reasonable period and will tell you if we need to verify your identity first.

If you are in a jurisdiction that gives you a right to complain to a supervisory authority — for example under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR — you may do so, though we would prefer the chance to put things right ourselves first.

11. Children

CADialogue is written for an adult audience interested in personal and business finance. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has supplied us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

12. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. Where a change materially affects how we handle personal information — for example when advertising goes live — we will describe the change here rather than making it quietly.
